CISV Saskatoon is part of CISV International, a global organization dedicated to educating and inspiring action for a more just and peaceful world by building intercultural friendship, cooperation, and understanding. By encouraging respect for cultural differences, common values, and self-awareness, CISV empowers children and young people to incorporate these values into their lives as they make a difference in their communities and become global citizens. At the heart of all of our programs is our belief that peace is possible through friendship and mutual understanding.

Founded in 1950, CISV International is now a federation of 69 Member Associations with over 200 chapters or local groups. In over 60 years, CISV has given countless children and young people the experience of their lives and the opportunity to build lasting friendships through local and international educational programs. CISV is a charitable, volunteer-run organization with no political or religious affiliations. CISV was formerly called Children’s International Summer Villages, but is now just known as CISV since the programs have expanded beyond Village, their first program.
