Today was maybe the most exciting day ever! All the homestay families dropped the kids off at the mall where a giant yellow school bus was waiting to carry everyone off to the camp site which is 45 minutes away. Everyone had a chance to meet a new friend by sitting next to someone who was not from the same delegation.

When all the delegates arrived to camp it was pure joy! Everyone was so excited to be reunited with their leaders again and the leaders were so excited to see their delegates again and hear about their adventures at homestay.

First thing we did was meet our rooms mates! We made some place mats with our name as well as a picture of our “Flag, Family, Favorite Food and what we like to do for Fun! (Yep the 4 “F”‘s) We will use the place mats at meals to allow a way to facilitate meeting new people and dining with people who might be from a different country or culture! What a great way to build global friendship. Below is a picture of each delegate with their room mate. How exciting!
Next we met our kitchen staff who prepared an amazing pasta and salad and cheese bread for dinner!

After dinner we did an activity about the Theme “Against the Flow” what does it mean? We talked about what the flow is in our country, if we thought it was good or frustrating and also examples of people who went against the flow to create social change. It’s only the first day of camp and we have already learned so much and have seen so many great leadership abilities in our group. This will be an amazing Step Up.
